OUR CREATIVE PROCESS

Saif Design has created a design process that is divided into key stages: Programming, Conception, Design Development, Resolution, Documentation, and Realization. We develop a success strategy from the start to meet each client’s project management and design requirements. From the “Final Dressing” to the “Details,” our exceptionally talented team creates high-end quality designs.

PROGRAMMING

The programming phase is the primary stage of our projects. The predesign phase is critical for determining the scope of work and identifying the project team requirements. Understanding the project’s critical path serves as the foundation for the project time-line. The client’s aesthetic preferences for the project’s level of detail and finishes, function needs, budgetary constraints, and identifying preferred vendors are all significant considerations in project programming.

CONCEPTION

The concept phase is the first of the design phases. In many cases, this phase can be divided into two distinct milestones: concept and schematic design. Plan review, space planning, mood imagery, and initial material palette ideas are developed during the concept milestone. Whereas, interior sketches, elevations, ceiling designs, flooring patterns, furnishing mood, and preliminary finish selections are developed for the key spaces during the schematic milestone.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

After the project team has completed the concept phase, the design developing phase builds on those decisions that extend beyond the key spaces to the entire project scope. This phase injects the design concept into every aspect of the project in order to develop and comprehend all of the requirements and how it will function. At this point in the project, the primary objective is to ensure that the design and function requirements are in alignment.

RESOLUTION

After the design development phase is completed, the project reaches a point where the design can be resolved; when all of the clients’ and design team’s decisions are brought together and the design documentation begins to take shape. Furniture plans, reference plans, ceiling plans, flooring and tile plans, lighting plans, and interior elevations are examples of preliminary documents that may be issued

DOCUMENTATION

After the design details have been established and coordinated, the working drawings with the required construction information are created. In addition to the drawings, supplemental specification packages for plumbing, lighting, cabinetry, finishes, and paint schedules are submitted. The documentation style is specifically tailored to the needs of the project and client.

REALIZATION

The design team oversees the design’s implementation. They collaborate closely with the consultants and contractor throughout the construction process, problem solving as needed. This phase also includes a review of drawings and other consultant coordination as the spaces come to life. The completion and most significant milestone of the realization of the design for each project is the installation of the furnishings and the addition of the finishing touches.
